Re: The Murder of Russian Parliament Member Denis Voronenkov in Ukraine
The bodyguard was not "paid off". Not everything a damn conspiracy. If it were, I don't think the assassin himself would have been killed. This is what happens when you get comfortable. You let your defenses down and when something happens, you just aren't prepared. Simple as that. He probably never expected that he'd have to defend his target from a gun wielding assassin on a sidewalk in broad daylight. This is the same exact scenario that gets police officers killed. They get used to doing simple routine stops writing some simple tickets and then the unthinkable happens and they aren't prepared. I know, that's his job, to protect. But I just don't think he ever thought it would come to that. |

I agree, I watched the video a few times, and I don't think there is anything off about the bodyguards behaviour. He just wasn't expecting to have to get his gun out whilst walking down the street. Once he realised the nutter was shooting, he tried to avoid it by dropping to the floor. Bodyguard or not, the guy is only human, and he reacted better than most of us would have.

There's a no-no when carrying a firearm. It's called drawing on an armed assailant who is pointing a gun at you. It's a stupid thing to do because you will likely get shot. It looks to me like the bodyguard waited until the assailant was no longer pointing his gun at him and then he drew his firearm and fired.

what a messy assignation. I bet there were countless witnesses. I thought the Russians were fond of heavy metal poisoning when it came to offing their bad politicians. Someone is slipping at the Kremlin. |
