There is gore on the blue steel pole so I assume that is what he hit. If his head was severed by a wire or thin metal sign post maybe he would remain conscious for 10 or twenty seconds (was that Lavoisier that kept blinking after being guillotined?) But hitting that steel pole I would reckon to guess it was likely lights out.

No. It's not possible. Even if hit brain was conscious for a few seconds, it would have been spinning and turning. But he wasn't even conscious for that. As soon the blood pressure drops to zero, so does consciousness. The head trauma would have also rendered him unconscious almost immediately. |
