Re: Motorcyclist Lost His Heart and Head After Collision
Unfortunately their are no parts of the body that are autonomous in that they can exist in a dead body for more than one or two minutes. That certainly means that heart would definitely quit working outside of the body. The heart quits beating when it receives no more nerve impulses, it will stop. I work in the trauma unit in a metropolitan hospital and we see things like this and worse. So, I also have to say that video is fake all together. There should be copious amounts of blood on the scene, including around the head and neck. There would need to be huge deformation to the trunk of the body that would accommodate the heart being allegedly torn from the body. This would also be obvious even viewing the subject face down as this "body" appears to be. There should be smears of blood and body tissue along the pavement where the body slid. Finally, a heart torn out of the body as this heart supposedly was should have visible torn valves from the trauma and perhaps some accompanying tissue that tore with it. And, finally head and neck trauma such as this purports to be is very, very rare and looks, incidentally, much, much more messy than this, rather than neatly lying on the body. But there is one final detail that condemns this pic to the trash bin. Trauma staff usually do off site emergency training as well as spending 40 hours a year in recertification. Just as there are crash test dummies and CPR dummies, there are dozens of others of which the company we worked with must have had two or three dozen themselves used in drills. These included one with horrific injuries from a motorcycle accident (though in his case was supposedly had no helmet) including a nearly headless one who nearly sheared off his head trying to lay his bike down underneath a truck but didn't quite make it far down enough (an actual accident in Oregon). We named this poor guy Ichabod after the protagonist in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". And, believe it or not, looked exactly like our friend in the video above, all the way down to the other wounds all over his body. PS - I apologize for typos. I did this whole thing on my Droid. |

Re: Motorcyclist Lost His Heart and Head After Collision
WELL SAID...Its also amazing to see the heart stopped when someone is put on cardiopulmonary bypass for heart surgery. When they re-warm the patient and give the heart a "hot shot" of electrolytes, it starts beating again. Always amazes me to see it.
