Not fake at all. Hearts have an autonomous electrical system that works independently from the body in the event of a lack of external neurological input. It'll keep beating until the muscle is oxygen-depleted and exhausts.

On a somewhat related noted, if you ever visit an abbatoir for cattle, watch what the tongues do after they have been cut out of the animals for over 15 minutes. They still crawl along.
thats why people have to 'pull the plug' on loved ones, because even though they are 'brain dead', they would cease breathing, because of that, and once pulled, thats why its usually a few minutes before they finally pass away.

im not big on religion, but the bibles prophecy of ending days says that men will seek death, yet not find it... is strange to me.
