If she can't "get over it" and it is a "life destroying experience" then she will be another statistical victim of Darwinian natural selection. The strong survive; the weak not so much. From the standpoint of the gene pool, that's not a bad thing. My wife lost her mother tragically at a similar age. She "got over it" from the standpoint of living a productive life. If you let some experience "destroy" your life, so much the worse for you.

Good grief, someone help that poor kid. She's so upset that she's trying to hug random stranger policemen. Someone pick her up and take her to the back of the ambulance, or something, so she doesn't have to stand there staring at her dead mother's body, covered in blood.
