It`s sad that this is a way of life in the poor areas of Sao Paulo or Rio De Janeiro. The lucrative drug trade is very tempting for these young men to get out of poverty. Unfortunately, it is a death sentence for many.

She should have realized her son was in trouble the last time he was in this situation, but was fortunate enough to survive. She should have moved him away from that area, even if it means just taking some bags and start walking for all of you that will claim she was poor and couldn't do anything about it. You can always do something. It's her fault as much as it is his, victim of his circumstances.
