Mother Dead, Daughter Injured After Being Hit by a Taxi
A 67-year-old woman died and her 27-year-old daughter was moderately injured after being struck by a taxi on President Ben-Zvi Boulevard in Nahariya, Israel. The 76-year-old taxi driver struck the two pedestrians on a crosswalk. He sustained minor injuries and was evacuated for medical care before being questioned by investigators. Israel Police launched a full traffic investigation at the scene. Officers are looking into whether the driver failed to grant right-of-way to the victims at the crosswalk, speeded and/or was driving under a state of distraction. |

lol, wtf? After hitting them going like 10mph, the driver continues pressing the gas til the old gal is run over by both axles. There was plenty of time to hit the brakes when both people were still on the hood of the car. Driver must have been super distracted watching a movie on their phone or something. |

You're right. I'm 81 and just renewed my license for another 2 years without any kind of test - just sent the check. I'm okay driving right now, but who knows the future.

They need to repaint that crosswalk. I don't know what other kinds of lights/signals are there but the paint's almost gone.

I know typically vehicles are supposed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk (at least in the states) but why would you mosey on out into a crosswalk with a car less than 20 feet away?
