I say put some big ass concrete polls up in the middle of the road, stop people from overtaking on the wrong side. Make them retractable for police. Do the same at lights.

Most people do because car theft is a big problem, and also the insurance schemes where people in front of you will stop and back into you, then say you hit them from behind, so a dashcam is good for catching anyone trying to pull that off as well.
