ISIS/ISIL receive 90%of their funding from oil revenues which they have overrun, raids on towns where there are banks which they steal all currency, and a decent amount from imposing ISIS taxes on the city they happen to have taken over and are stationed in. See it's not like a 1st world country ... a few thousand of us couldn't overtake New York City or London without being systematically killed in a few days probably .. unfortunately in the areas ISIS is, they just aren't equipped for them .. and they also hide behind the locals and actually get support sometimes from locals because living conditions have actually gotten better with their presence of using their city as a military base. They impose their law and collect taxes from each person and business. they basically take over government roles.

Also to add, they have financial positions as crazy as it sounds and ISIS announced a budget of $2 BILLION u.s. dollars for the year .. this was before u.s. raids destroyed cash houses with reports of nearly $600 MILLION in cash .. nonetheless, $1.4 BILLION u.s. dollars is still manageable I'm thinking ...
