Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Well sure. I absolutely can't disagree with you there. Unfortunately, opportunistic assholes are a regrettable side effect of an unruly mob. Once the spark lights the keg, the keg blows and shit burns uncontrolled. But without the protest, it is far less likely that justice would have been pursued. Just sucks that earnest business owners and decent citizens are suffering those side effects. |

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Question to our online American friends. I am watching your country appear to be coming apart . Is there a feeling of widespread despair and racism across your society as the news presents? If you do believe this racism is real , does it infest all levels of govt and in general white population? |

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Thats what i thought. I would think that every American no matter what colour creed etc would have the same opportunity as the next. Sure demonstate and march to make your point but rioting and destroying property does not achieve anything and undermines the supposed mourning of the guys death. Im sure the majority of the population rejects the police action and the majority rejects these riots..... |

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Oh no, you got it wrong there, there's a LOT of opportunity inequality here due to socioeconomic status. Green seems to matter more than black and white. Race is used as a divisive political tactic but it doesn't have us looking at our neighbors of different skin color like they're in an opposing camp or somehow responsible for interracial violence. The problem is that Americans of different races aren't always able to relate to each other's culture, and a lot of us are probably a little defensive because race can be such a sensitive topic and racists can be so subtle and hide so well that you never know if someone of a different race that you're dealing with is bigoted against you. If anything, race relations don't *cause* interracial hatred, but rather it's that the hateful angry people here who just want something to hate and victimize will also latch onto race as a focus of their hatred. A good example of that is the piece of shit now-ex-officer Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd's neck, or black career criminals who hate white people and prefer to victimize them because they blame institutional white racism (rather than, say, the way they were raised) for the poverty that they use to justify their criminal activity. What I find really interesting is that most of these high-profile incidents involving race, police brutality, and riots don't happen here in the South of the U.S., which everyone in the places where those things *do* happen claims is so racist and backwards and ignorant. It seems to me like people of different races get along better in states like Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida than they do in California and above the Mason-Dixon Line despite a lot of those latter states being leftist and thus supposedly more accepting and tolerant of racial diversity. But that's just in my experience and understanding, mileage may vary for others. |

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Clarification: It doesn't have *most* of us looking at our neighbors as racial opposition. There will always be those who see nothing but skin color, but most of us don't make a big deal about it.

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Shit, I just had basic handcuff training to be a half assed security guard at a mall and we went over procedures for not killing people in distress while cuffed and still keeping them restrained and under control. This dude gave zero fucks about the guys condition.
