Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
This is absolutely horrific. I want to see the body cam footage like most to actually see what occurred leading up to. However, I did see the released security cam footage of outside when they initially approached and detained but I personally couldn't identify any resistance on his part. |

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
This. Not to deflect blame off the officer but all the people around shouting just made the situation worse. Instead of concentrating on the suspect, they were on the defensive mode against the crowd. Nothing wrong with filming a cop but don’t be combative, let them do their job and be on their way.

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
Yes... I believe Cops are trained to do the Exact Opposite of what aggressive crowds may ask. Helps maintain the illusion of Superiority. So what the crowd Should Have Done... "See that... he called your Mom a cheap ass whore, lets get em" or "Perhaps you should pick him up and slap him around some more" |

I wouldn't be writing a life insurance policy for that police person now. If not for omnipresent video cameras in cell phones, we would never know / hear about this.

Re: Minnesota Man Dies In Custody
People assume that race is a factor because this shit virtually never happens to white boys who commit non-violent crimes like selling unstamped cigarettes or passing counterfeit Jacksons. You think for a -second- that if this was a middle-aged white guy that cop was going to flat-out murder him in front of everyone? No. Because that actually pretty much never happens. Even when that Somali cop murdered Justine Ruszczyk in the same city a few years ago, he was just a jumpy dipshit with a hair trigger who shot her out of a window without ever even making an ID. Very different story from the all-too-common instances of black men who are murdered under color of authority during the course of arrests, often cavalierly in front of witnesses. And no, I'm not even saying that this pig woke up that morning and said to himself, "Today, I'm gonna take a smoke off the streets for good." I don't think that was the case. This wasn't a 'targeted' racial killing. But it WAS a case of this man's life being worth nothing to this pig BECAUSE he was a black suspect. So when push came to shove, piggie said to himself in his little pig brain, "Fuck it, it's just some jungle bunny passing bad bills. No one's gonna give a shit if I lean on him as hard as I want." I don't think he was looking to kill the guy. The guy's life just meant nothing to him and I believe that was largely due to race, as I strongly suspect piggie's behavior would have been different if the perp was white. The race issue that people keep bringing up is not necessarily racist killer-cops. But institutionalized racism devaluing the lives of black men to such a degree that the pigs barely even register them as human when it comes to how to treat them. |
