My guess is that the cop will say he was afraid for his life and kept his knee on the neck of the "berserk" suspect, and it will be deemed a justified "kneeing".

All ribbing aside I really do hope you're wrong about this one.

As someone who's often arguing the other side of this argument, I really truly think this is one of those rare open and shut ones that really isn't going to be particularly debateable.

Usually I'd be at least saying "let's wait for more info" even when the initial video looks bad, but this one is just beyond defense IMO.

The guy was already handcuffed, so if they feared he would try and cause more of a ruckus, they could have zip tied his legs, and tossed him in the back of their cruiser. Not to mention, once he went quiet and was unresponsive, neither officer checked for a pulse to see if the guy was okay.

These officers royally fucked up, and they and the city will be sued for big money, plus the fired officers may face jail time for some form of manslaughter.

Maybe this cop is just an power happy asshole. Maybe he treats all people who piss him off with excessive force.

Not that it really matters, possibly it makes what he did even worse. But from watching the video i wonder if the people standing there watching, filming, and jawing with the cops. Did play a part in the death unintentionally.

Because that cop is a power happy stubborn asshole. He just kept his knee on that guys neck because they were telling him to stop. And he wasn't going to stop and give them any satisfaction or control over him. I wonder if they would have just walked away if things would have ended differently.
