The closest I ever came to death (aside from almost being abducted by a child molester when my back was turned while catching frogs...my mother and sister saw him and chased him off) was when my friend & I were kids and we dug a tunnel through a huge mound of a hard gravelly gray sand and were going to climb through it for fun. We dug half way through then quit for the evening with plans to continue the next day. Much to our chagrin (and to our horror) the tunnel collapsed when we came back the next morning. This poor guy made me think of that and how incredibly stupid we were as kids. I get chills thinking of that time.
