AR 15 does not typically use 7.62 ammo

I don't put it past them to situate their recording camera for the best angles and then when satisfied, shoot their hostage. And then they put together their clips and send it around the internets.

Re: Mexico - Woman Executed with Headshot from AK47

When I load ammunition, the propellant (gunpowder) label states the velocity given when using that particular powder in grain weight, and grain weight of the projectile being fired and at varied distances. I have experimented with thousands of cartridges with different loads. Velocity very much affects the amount of energy being transferred to the target. Take the 5.7mm round for example. The penetration is manipulated by the balance of the projectile itself as it equates to the velocity of powder charge. A 5.7 at close range will punch through a flak jacket like warm butter. At 25 yards the same cartridge will enter soft tissue and almost miraculously stop at a depth of 5 inches and transfer it's energy to the soft tissue, sending the target flying backwards. The technology of the 5.7 round is quite amazing and currently only FNH can manufacture it. The US Secret Service uses the 5.7 for not only it's ability to penetrate body armor, but the round minimizes collateral damage by stopping quickly at range. At 100 yards it has virtually no significant drop from gravity. Others use it because it can punch through body armor, but will stop when going through a sheet rock wall at the same distance. What about what really make a bullet mushroom out when it hits a target. It is about the velocity. If the front of the bullet slows down while the back of the bullet is traveling faster, it mushrooms or tumbles end over end. Check out the 5.7mm round vs .45ACP ballistics tests on YouTube. A 5.7 is not much bigger than a .22 yet can create massive damage with velocity and energy transference factors. I understand neither round was used here, but the point is without knowing the velocity of the round fired, nobody can realistically say the should have been knocked back, or fell forward, or anything like that. We are basing our opinion on what we think should happen. If this was in fact a "hot load" the velocity would punch the projectile through her head and not blow her head apart, or even alter direction of her falling body. That would also explain the muzzle flash. From what I have seen, I believe it was a hyper velocity full metal jacket round. This is a common cartridge, but probably not cheap surplus type ammo. I know this was a long post but some are interested in ballistics.

Muzzle flash is way too big and bright,
no it isn't. a .30 caliber rifle makes a big ball of fire. it is a bit unusual that it got captured in its full blown glory in one of the 30 frames per second that video is generally comprised of, though.

Dont feel pitty for this piece of crap... She helped a cartel get away with murders and extortions of kids and people who had nothing to do with the drug business.
