Las Choapas, Veracruz – Juan Antonio Bautista López, a freight transportation union leader in the municipality of Las Choapas, was the victim of a third armed attack, this time at his own home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to his testimony, around 2:00 a.m., two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on his home, firing repeatedly from outside. One of the bullets landed dangerously close to the pillow where he was sleeping, forcing him to throw himself to the ground to protect himself, along with his family, who were also inside the home.

"I ask that a thorough investigation be carried out, including my union and political activities as possible lines of investigation," Bautista López stated after the incident.

This attack follows the two armed attacks he survived on October 25, 2024, where he confronted a female hitman on two different occasions on the same day.

That day, while he was riding in his truck, a woman approached him and shot him, wounding him in the neck, according to videos he submitted to the Prosecutor's Office. Later, as he was heading to the hospital, the same attacker—this time wearing different clothing—intercepted him again from a motorcycle and shot him again. Bautista López repelled the attack with his firearm, fatally wounding her in the neck.

Despite the severity of the attacks, Juan Antonio has survived and has remained steadfast in demanding justice and continuing his work as a leader of the transportation union.
