The type of music is called "Banda." Typically when you hear a song of this type being played, it has Cartel affiliation and usually they tell stories of recent shootouts or "hits" that have been accomplished by the Cartel. The cartels will even hire out bands to create songs for them, wine them, dine them, the works. Pretty fucked up, but then again these guys have way too much money, testosterone, and guns. It's pretty easy to expect this from them. But that guy ranting and raving about Catholicism, well I guess a few people already pinned that discussion on the head. They don't do it in the name of Catholicism, they do it in the name of money and power. That's a big difference if you ask me between them and Islam radicals. And the person that was mentioning that they can possibly do Santeria or pray to the angel of death, you also mentioned Dia de los Muertos. There is no prayer to Dia de los Muertos. Dia de los Muertos is a day in which many Latin countries remember their deceased loved ones. There's is no negative affiliation with "Dia." Just so you know. Good post. Good discussion.  |
