Re: Mexican Cartel Treatment
Damn! What were they thinking? Those guys don't know anything about terminal ballistics of 7.62x39 or .223 cal. rounds on 1/4 inch steel plates. A checkered plate of 1/4 inch thickness will not stop an AK or AR type rifle round. a 3' by 6' sheet of 1/4 inch thickness is a little over 265 lbs. I don't think they're using thicker metal plates on those underpowered vehicles, judging by the thickness shown at 0:12 is very likely all the "armor" consists of metal plates unable to stop rifle rounds. |

Re: Mexican Cartel Treatment
The armored vehicle has exposed rubber tires. I would think that would be an extremely weak link in a combat vehicle.

The worst part is, that was just an ice-cream truck! Those guys are REALLY mean when you tell them you are out of their push-up pops! |

Re: Mexican Cartel Treatment
That thing is a sitting duck without support vehicles and personnel that can adequately man those positions. They probably rolled in somewhere unsafe thinking they couldn't be compromised due to their armor Sucks to find out the hard way |

Re: Mexican Cartel Treatment
You're not wrong at all, but there's an intimidation factor there. Ultimately useless when push comes to shove, but...still scary on the other end I imagine. Especially when there's probably a sense of invulnerability for you *and* the people on the inside firing back. |

Re: Mexican Cartel Treatment
There's nothing scarier than the innocence brought on by ignorance, those guys are sent "to the front" with marginal knowledge about terminal ballistics of the weapons being used in their "war" and also sub par or no training at all in the use of said weapons. Mexican people are not exposed to the use of firearms like in the US for example, for every guy we see in those videos it is the first time in their life they hold a modern era assault rifle in their hands. That means the most common malfunction they're having has to be user induced and I doubt they could quickly deal with the most common ones, much less dealing with for example the cause of a stuck bolt on an unloaded M4 when no magazine is inserted because a primer is lodged between the bolt carrier group and the upper receiver. I bet they believe they can use a dead body as cover in the purest Hollywoodian style when being shot at with rifle rounds. Just to think you are safe behind those steel plates when you are not... Now that's intimidating! |
