Re: Massive And Fatal Accident Between A Truck And 2 Cars
The problem wasn't the Jeep hitting the guard rail. The Jeep's passenger side hit the front end of the truck on the driver side, which caused the Jeep to spin out while pushing the truck into the guard rail. Odds are that the truck driver also corrected right once he saw the Jeep about to collide. Both factors would contribute to the loss of control of the truck. Once the Jeep spun out completely in front of the truck and hit the guard rail head-on, it acted as an angled wedge between the guard rail and the truck and forced the truck into the oncoming lane and the red Kia therein. The Jeep driver was passing on a blind curve, saw the oncoming traffic, and cut over in haste before before fully passing the truck. But really, if the truck driver had noticed the Jeep passing him, he could have slowed down and avoided both collisions altogether. Still the Jeep driver's fault, though. Also, the driver of the red Kia might have had a better chance if they had applied the brakes sooner. From the time the trouble becomes visible from the recording car, the red Kia passes 2.5 of the red markers on the right side of the road; but the driver doesn't apply the brakes until the Kia is halfway between the 2nd and 3rd marker, with the point of impact being 3/4 of the way between the two markers. And that, folks, is why one should always scan as far ahead as possible and check the rear and side-view mirrors at frequent and regular intervals. |

Re: Massive And Fatal Accident Between A Truck And 2 Cars
I like how the Jeep driver becomes a good samaritan straight after the crash by moving his car out the way so the other cars can drive past. Too late mate, you got blood on your hands |
