That so-called ‘husband’ was a real winner, running away and letting the 3 women in his family get slowly gutted like fish. How very egalitarian of him. The rest of the sheeple just stood around watching for an ‘authority’ to do something. Too many centuries of civilization does messed up stuff to human nature. The Japanese only countered it for a while with an explicitly martial and honor-based culture. A cautionary tale for sure.
