A tragedy occurred early Tuesday morning when part of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in the Dominican capital collapsed while singer Rubby Pérez was performing at a party. He is still missing.

It was reported that there were a considerable number of injured, and it was also revealed that there were also many deaths. Other sources mention at least 30, 100, 180, 221, 225 deaths.

A source at the Independencia Clinic, one of the medical centers closest to the entertainment center, said they had taken several injured people there, but had no information on fatalities.

Firefighters, civil defense, 911, and national police units, among other first responders, responded to the scene.

In one vid they are filming the ceiling / lights, are the women looking at the ceiling? Is that dust coming from the ceiling? Did the singer point to the ceiling a second before it came down?

I don’t doubt for a second that we will have implants that replace cellphones eventually.

I am not surprised. Domincan Republic is one of the worst in building and construction. I have seen it with my own eyes. I lived Las Terrenas for many years. I was lucky enough to purchase my house built by a German gent who was an independent contractor working for the expat community. Practically, every house in my small area is owned by foreigners. Seven years ago, a new nice development was selling flats for a very high price with terrible quality. I advised my friends who rent from me not to buy them. However, a French friend did not listen, and now she is faced with terrible plumbing difficulties on a practically new apartment. If you want to build your own, the government makes it very hard and requires 6 major permits in my area. All of their permits are properly priced. However, getting them approved is extremely difficult due to the corruption from the local authorities. It is a rat infected sewer of a system. Truly do not know how people still willing to go feed those corrupted individuals. Lastly, when you have a nice villa, all the locals just observe you and calculate ways in which they will steal from the gringo. I only visit 3 to 4 times a year to inspect my investment properties. The locals believe I am in Santo Domingo, but they have some suspicions. The natural aspects of the country are the attraction to foreign investment. Dominicans make life miserable for you. I am to the point that will sell all of my investment and not deal with this old crap. It is not worth it.
