What I am not understanding is why these idiots aren't trying to help him. They are just milling about. All they had to do was go to him and tell him to lay still.
What difference would it make?

There is no way those legs could be repaired, and prosthetics are a western thing. At best hes going to have his legs amputated at the knees.
