Re: ~Man's Heart Beats In The Street After Accident~

Colour me stupid, but how is this even possible? The brain commands the heart to beat, right? So, the heart being completely disconnected from the body... What?

The heart has it own electrical system to keep its rhythm and to pump blood, that’s why doctors can shock it and it’ll stop or go back to a stable beat after tachycardia or cardiac arrest. The latter usually caused by disruption to the heart’s internal electrical system (not to be confused with a heart attack).
If the cells in the heart continue to have oxygen it will continue to beat for a short period after brain death without support.

Re: ~Man's Heart Beats In The Street After Accident~

have seen similar stuff before. it's not exactly beating but twitching (muscle memory) until the tissues run out of oxygen in the next few mins
