Re: Manila Train Mutilation, The Man is Still Alive

Some massive incompetence in this video, no trained EMTs in Manila apparently.

1) Lifting the guy just like that with his massive open wounds pointing directly downward

2) They left his goddamn legs behind!!! Fuck!!!
oh we have trained EMT's in manila. lots of them. actually we have a lot of excess that had to go to the states or europe to work their skills becuase there are too many of them for the few jobs available here.

Problem is that area is a squatter's area. roads within will only fit a motorcycle with side cars, almost scraping the sides when they do. access for ambulances and firetrucks is impossible to get through. Not to mention the main road traffic congestion.

You get in a fix like that, you have to wait almost a whole day to see an emt coming over.

Those who lifted them are just local spot workers and relatives. no emt there. he will die of blood loss if you wait for them.

Re: Manila Train Mutilation, The Man is Still Alive

great answer - those who have never seen the philippines or similar countries will never understand
my wife is a filipina and when on holiday i was amazed to see the squatters on the train line in metro manila
it is just something you don't expect to ever see - it is virtually surreal

and this photo was taken at 9.30pm on a friday night on a road in the middle of nowhere . . . . and yet, the locals are still manning their little fruit hut in the hope of making just a little money to survive on

it is both amusing and tragic when some people call the filipinos and others in similar countries savages. western world people are much more savage. they just hide behind their self righteousness. i have seen both the best and worst of australian's and filipino's and the filipino's win hands down for being great people
the filipino's might rip you off, but that is to survive
when the australian's rip you off it is for nothing but greed
neither way is right, but at filipino's only do bad things because they are so desperate

and of course there is a good chance the locals have no training - there is no point in calling an ambulance over there, because with the traffic, it hasn't got a hope of making it in time anyway. it is quicker to try and get someone to hospital yourself
Nice to see someone who does not just give ignorant remarks. So many people fro all over who gives a lot of remarks and assumptions about things they know nothing about. Im for the stuff that says, "if you know something, share it.... if you know nothing, stuff it and be silent."

Re: Manila Train Mutilation, The Man is Still Alive

I am a physician. This completely defies medical logic at first appearance. However, suffice it to say, the arteries are composed of smooth muscle which can constrict to stop excessive bleeding. A complete transection such as this poor fellow has, has a much better prognosis than a cut running up and down the artery. Now, do not get me wrong. I am betting this man died but you can never say anything with absolution in medicine. I have seen people die from nothing and live through everything...
He did not die. from what i heard, intended or accidentally, when they got him aboard the vehicle, they placed him upright and the stumps were squashed tight by the weight against the plastic leather seat and stemmed the blood flow.
