Man Wielding a Box Cutter is Advancing Towards a Cop Who Shoots Him
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 12:46 p.m., Bradley Police Department officers conducted a well-being check in the 600 block of Jonette Avenue in Bradley, IL for a man making suicidal statements. On arrival, officers encountered 34-year-old Jose Orozco of Bradley armed with a box cutter. Officers attempted to talk with Orozco when he started advancing on them. Orozco disobeyed officers’ orders to stop and the officers discharged their weapons, striking Orozco. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived on scene. Orozco was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. After a thorough investigation, ISP will turn the case over to the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The investigation is active and ongoing and no additional information is available at this time. |
