~Man Tried To Steal Metal Cover Shot Dead By Guard~
A man was shot dead by a security guard near Gurmunder area of Karachi on Saturday. The guard said in a statement to the police that the accused was fleeing after stealing from the pump. Police have taken the guard into custody along with the weapon, while the body of the deceased has been shifted to the hospital for autopsy. |

~ Stealing a cover to make some quick recycling money. ~ 1 USD = 174.505 PKR (Pakistani Rupees) ~ Current value of scrap iron in Karachi = Rs 23/kilogram ~ Weight of the ~ 3'x3' cover, <40lbs (<18.1437 kg) (Since he was fairly able to carry it) ~ They would have made ~ 414 Rupees (~ $2.4 USD) ~ I don't think that cover was worth his life, unless he was penniless.  ~ In the U.S. the weight of iron Manhole covers weigh usually more than 113 kilograms or 249 lb, whether it is made out of concrete, cast iron, or a combination of both. |
