~ At first he looked right at it but then, about 2/3rds of the way he realized he didn't want to die, by speeding up his steps, Too Late!
~ Maybe it was an unplanned suicide, & it's outcome was being decided as he stepped into it.
~ And maybe, just maybe, he was being purposely plain deaf & dumb, but then, it was at that 2/3 of the way instantaneous moment that he realized, that it was gonna hurt like hell to die that way.
