Even if the cops arrived sooner, there's no guarantee things would've ended differently. Its not like they were going to just bust into the house of an apparent suicidal army reservist armed with a shotgun and hope to stop him before he has an opportunity to shoot someone. And its not Autumn's fault either. Even if she decided to "talk him down" this time, he would likely use the same tactic to keep her as an emotional hostage indefinitely. People that do things like this will use the threat of suicide or self harm as a powerful tool to manipulate and control others, and will dangle that threat anytime they feel like they've been wronged in some way. She may feel guilty about not doing more here, but I don't think she should. I honestly feel like she was brave by realizing she was done with his drama and was able to walk away from the relationship, that's not always an easy thing to do when dealing with manipulative people. And not only was he manipulative... but he was obviously violent. I think this situation could've easily ended with 2 dead instead of 1. |

Which would just result in a suicide by cop. But really he looked like an attention whore and have the most devasting impact on his friends and family. A 9mm would do just as well and leave a presentable corpse.
