That is bothering me for some reason. Like all the shots before he grimaced, he didn’t feel pain from them, his pain receptors didn’t register them right away or something?
What does it feel like to get shot? And not just once, but barrage of hits. People have miraculously survived being shot multiple times, but I’ve never read or heard what it felt like when it was happening.

I've been told by people that I know that have been shot, that it feels like getting hit on that spot with a baseball bat. The force just reverberates through your whole body. (Maybe some of the DR fans will provide better info, if any of them have been shot.)

Bar owner probably complained that there were TOO MANY guys collecting protection money, and they decided there WERE too many, and corrected the situation. (They probably told him that as soon as anyone sees them walk in, everyone should take cover, because they are going to publicly straighten the guy out.)
Just part of the service you get when you pay protection money.
