Never understood this form of protest

I saw a video here of an Indian prick who sliced his guts open in a protest march, all his intestines hanging out, but nobody seemed to pay any attention. He was looking a bit stupid and embarrassed, carrying an armful of his own guts, as people carried on marching all around him....
