Man Murdered His Ex-partner and then Stabbed Himself

A bloody event shocked the neighbors of race 7 between 9 and 10 streets of Barrio Centro, in the municipality of Roldanillo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, when a 25-year-old man crazed by jealousy attacked his 21-year-old ex-year-old on the public road with a knife.

The couple are of Venezuelan nationality. The fatal victim was identified as E.D.A., who received three fatal injuries to the abdomen, chest, neck and right arm.

His aggressor was identified as Jason Campos, who, when committing the femicide, tried to take his own life by cutting his neck and one of his wrists.

The case was reported in a video circulating on social networks, in which the man is seen in the middle of the street, carrying a knife and with blood on his hands.

E.A. was taken by citizens on a motorcycle to the San Antonio Hospital, but she died due to the severity of her injuries. Subsequently, four police officers arrived at the scene and captured the man, who was taken to a clinic in Tuluá.

According to Elsa Janet Álvarez Méndez, commander of the Fourth District of the Roldanillo Police, this crime was motivated by jealousy and progress is being made in investigations to clarify femicide.

"Unfortunately at about 11:30 a.m. a man of Venezuelan nationality attacks his former sentimental partner with a knife, who, according to witnesses' versions, was in a beauty salon when she was surprised by the aggressor. Everything would indicate that the fact was due to jealousy, a version that we are verifying with relatives of the young woman," said the official.
