he looked like an uncoordinated spaz, though...he seemed to maximize the damage by doing the dramatic spread-eagle thing on the way down

To me, it seems that the box being put up by the person on the ground knocked the one the man was trying to pick up + knocked him backwards.

Always thought that when someone falls you automatically curl up in a ball position to minimize the damage but guess i was wrong.

Re: Man Loses Balance and Falls During Accident at Work

The bottom line is you're up about six feet off the ground on a platform with no rails. Your every move should be calculated. You should be aware of where you are in relation to the edge. And you should have a firm grasp of the package you're handling. He just looked so nonchalant and care-free up there. Just a giant dufuss. This is all on him.

Re: Man Loses Balance and Falls During Accident at Work

I worked in a shithole when i was a youngster . They sent me up on the forklift legs up the top of a truck trailer unloading. Same thing happened. Banding snapped i went flying off the forks down from the top of the trailer and landed on my back and broke my arm. Successfully sued them for a very substantial amount. This was the days before cameras everywhere so it was quite a labourious process getting statements from every arsehole that saw what happened . Anyway sorry to bore you. Just a comment on why cameras can be good sometimes.
