That's irrelevant because after he was dead nothing in the universe would matter to him, if the world ended or if christ decided to come for a second time (pun intended) or if she had survived.

The point is: After he is dead it doesn't matter if she lived or died, even the "few seconds of satisfaction he got" are of no meaning to him after all, because he is dead now.

If he wanted to enjoy her death he should have just shot her and live to relish in her death, but because he had decided to kill himself too, then just killing himself could accomplish the same from his point of view after he was dead and would avoid an unnecessary death and save some bullets and not promote entropy in the universe.
