According to Prince Andrew in the epic novel 'War and Peace', looking up at the sky while you die is a pretty peaceful and poetic way to go, even if you are dying a violent death in battle.

"What's this? Am I falling? My legs are giving way," thought he, and fell on his back. He opened his eyes. Above him there was now nothing but the sky-the lofty sky, not clear yet still immeasurably lofty, with gray clouds gliding slowly across it. "How quiet, peaceful, and solem; not at all as I ran," thought Prince Andrew-"not as we ran, shouting and fighting...how differently do those clouds glide across that lofty infinite sky! Probably my favorite quote of the novel....of course Prince Andrew gets rescued from death on the battlefield by Napoleon and gets to enjoy living life with his new perspective.
