Man Killed by Family Over Land Dispute
A man was killed by his own family in Taring Village, Biringbulu District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The sadistic killing occurred around 7:00 am Central Indonesian Time today. When asked, the Head of Gowa Police Public Relations, AKP Mangatas Tambunan confirmed the incident. The victim is known as Sampara, a resident of Batueja Hamlet, Tonroritta Village, Biringbulu District. "The suspect has surrendered and has been trransferred to the Gowa Police Station, "said Tambunan. The same was confirmed by the Head of Biringbulu District, Yamin Basri when questioned. According to Yamin the perpetrator is named H. Saju. "Yes there is indeed a murder, the victim's name is Sampara and the perpetrator's name is H Saju," Yamin Basri said when confirmed. Meanwhile, Head of Tonrorita Village, Muh Syarif revealed that victims and perpetrators have family relations. Syaeif admitted that the victim was a citizen of Tonrorita. The incident allegedly occurred due to land disputes between an uncle and nephew. |

According to my foreign law research, to properly obtain title to disputed land, killing the other party is not enough. The perp has to BEHEAD the other party, and place the head at least 6 feet away from the body. So, I think the perp here wins, and should easily collect a clear deed once the death certificate and details are properly recorded in the Office of Deeds. Yes, a rare find documenting the local rules for resolving a land title dispute. |
