Re: Man Jumps to His Death
Imagine if you will........You are watching tv in your apartment. You smell smoke at first, nothing major. You go on about your buisness. Watching your show, you suddenly have your instincts jolt thru you. You know somthing is not right. You open your front door to be confronted by a wall of black smoke, that chokes you and stings your eyes to the point of being blind. You instinctivly open a window for relief. Looking out, you realize you are 145 from the ground. You think, ok, I will wait for them to put out the fire. As you wait, your sense of hope starts to slowly leave. The smoke gets worse, to the point of you hang out the window. You are sweating like a waterfall, the heat is building beneath you, even though the flames are not even close. We all know heat and smoke rise. Now you are sweating so much you are almost dehidrated, and the heat is burning you a little bit. You see firefighters below, trying to extend a ladder to you, but it comes up short by 50 feet. As your hope leaves a bit faster now, your mind races, fight or flight instinct dominates to the point of rational thought, no longer exsists. You are choking, blind, and your skin is blistering and melting. What will you do ? Our natural response is to get away from the pain. Your skin is now falling off as you are cooked alive. Tunnel vision gets the best of you, and you take the natural course of action, even if it makes your body explode on impact. I hate being more than 10 feet off the ground, but I hate being burnt to a crisp even more. I would jump, anyone put in that situation would, unless they are superman. |
