With 9/11 a lot of people say that those who jumped were pretty much forced out. Like it wasn't a conscious decision necessarily, but with the heat being so, so intense, the only way to breathe was to get near the window. And at that point, your instinct is to breathe, get away from the heat.

I'm sure there were people who decided to jump because they knew it would be quicker and practically painless, but I also think some people just kind of took the only way out they had :(
