Man Hacks Woman To Death
A woman was killed in a knife attack at Hariharpur of Gujra municipality-5 in Rautahat district on Friday morning. Upendra Sah Kalwar, 35, has been arrested on the charge of assaulting 45-year-old Renudevi Jaiswal with a sharp weapon. Upendra was also seriously injured after being beaten up by the angry locals. The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police said. According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the incident took place at around 10:30 am on Friday at Hariharpur Tole of Gujra municipality-5. Upendra Sah Kalwar, a permanent resident of Ithar Belahi of Karaiyamai Rural Municipality-8 in Bara district, who is currently living in Hariharpur, attacked Renudevi Jayaswal, wife of Chandeshwor Sah Kalwar, with a khukuri. According to the police, Renu Devi had suffered serious injuries in her neck. He died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. After the incident, the locals were enraged. They took control of the attacker Upendra and beat him up. He was taken to Chandrapur Hospital in Chandranigahapur for treatment. He was referred to Birgunj for further treatment after his condition worsened, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basanta Gautam of District Police Office, Rautahat. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, DSP Gautam said. A police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar Khatri from Area Police Office, Laxminiya has reached the incident site and collected evidences and started investigations. Police said they are investigating all aspects including the use of a sharp weapon in the incident, the circumstances of the incident and the relationship between the accused and the deceased.
