The man suspected of killing D.G.d.S. on the eve of her birthday, in Olinda, Pernambuco state, Brazil, was found dead on Tuesday (14). According to police, he committed suicide.

In a statement, the Civil Police of Pernambuco confirmed having registered the suicide of a 43-year-old man, identified only as L., in the Rio Doce neighbourhood.

D. was murdered with shots from a shotgun on the night of Monday (13), inside her home. She would have been 46 years old this Tuesday (14).

The crime was discovered after the Military Police received a report of domestic violence around 8pm on Monday. The caller said that the stepfather was beating his mother at the residence. The police reported, however, that when they arrived at the scene, the woman was already dead.

According to the victim's family, D. and her partner had been in a relationship for four years. In recent months she had tried to separate but depended on him financially.

About a month ago, D. got a job with a signed contract in the kitchen of a school and then decided that she could separate. It was during this period that the threats began.
