Seeing how elevators murder people in China, I imagine this happened in the usual way.
The doors opened, the elevator was missing. He stuck half his body in to see where it was. Elevator in a nanosecond came to its correct floor, taking the guy with it.
He didn’t die ASAP, had enough life to try and push his feet against the doors.
