I've been told by a relative (who has worked in ED as a nurse) that this happens more than people think (aka surviving from shooting in the mouth or under the chin). There is some bone at the roof of the mouth and the bullet bounces off it instead of penetrating the brain.

He looks and walks pretty sickly. Also he's very thin and pale. Last stages of terminal cancer?

Definitely determined. It took some real guts to do that! I have often wondered if I would be able to carry out killing myself. I guess it would depend on how sick or how painful things were.
