Man Falls in Gap Between Platform and Train and Got Spun Around
July 3. India, A 40-year-old man died after falling in the gap between the platform and a train. As soon as the train arrived at the station, the victim alighted from the train to buy some packaged drinking water from the canteen store. After collecting the change from the stall owner on payment of Rs 100 for the bottle, the victim tried to board the train compartment with the bottle and cash in one hand. Since the train had already started moving, he could not hold on to the handle properly, because of the bottle in one hand. He then fell in the gap of the platform and B-13 coach as he lost the balance. The victim, who is a resident of Ahmedabad, had come to Bhiwandi for some work. He was declared doa at BR Ambedkar hospital. As many as 13 people have died due to falling in the gap of platform during 2016-17 as compared to 28 in 2015 and 25 in 2014. The number of death has come down due to raising the height of the platforms and awareness campaigns. According to the Government Railway Police, the incident took place around 11.15pm when the train arrived at platform no. 6. |
