Re: Man Falls And Drowns During Recording Of A Music Video

Yeah the vocal chords can swell up if you breath in water, iv almost drowned from breathing in pool water before, and my body decided that my lungs needed more fluid to solve the chlorinated water in me.

because why not lungs, poor chat - nice drone footage though,
Kind of a misconception. Most drown victims have little to no water in the lungs. The muscles that constrict your airway are involuntarily. Not that it’s impossible to get water in your lungs, but it’s incredibly improbable. Those involuntary systems function long after you’re unconscious and quite a bit longer than brain death. It’s why drowned people float. Lungs full of water will sink to the bottom. Very very rare.

Thank you for the post. I'm going to show this to my nieces/nephews when they brag about jumping from waterfalls on vacation.

And if it was planned and supposed to happpen, why didn’t they have swimmers out there ready to get in ASAP in case of an emergency?? None of this video makes sense to me at all

Re: Man Falls And Drowns During Recording Of A Music Video

The effect is called Laryngospasm and it can effectively shut off the airway, as it is a primitive brain function to protect the airway and keep the body alive.

It can be so effective in closing off the airway, that people can die even after being pulled out of the water (known as a "dry drowning").

Upon a postmortem exam, if the lungs are already FULL of water that means either that the person was already likely dead when they entered the water, or they've been under for so long that the body has had time to "relax" after death. (Just as soot in the lower airway of a burn victim means they were alive when he fire started/body was burned, and an absence of soot means they were already dead when they were burned.)
