In fact, I don't know of a single frequent contributor (Etsu included) who has a career in law enforcement, emergency services, or professional journalism. We do have many members on this site who work in those fields, but they are all too afraid for their jobs (not that I blame them for a minute) to leak sensitive photos on the internet. Most of the regular content providers I am aware of (myself included) are just regular people with completely unrelated jobs. Only consistent factor I can recall is that most of us are retired, self-employed, or work from home...so we have a measure of free time and easy access to the internet. 75% of the 'job' is keeping good records and having a working mastery of relevant keywords in about a dozen different languages. If you find a good site, you mark it and come back to it many times a day for updates until it finally disappears. Beyond that, I run time-sensitive searches multiple times a day on about 75 different words in somewhere between 4 and 8 languages, depending. I also pay actual money for a lot of the content I post here. Meaning, I subscribe to the newspapers and paid newsfeeds of journalists in foreign countries. At any given time, my Issuu account has up to a dozen or more active subscriptions for daily periodicals from Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Peru, Paraguay, and a few others. I scan these papers for interesting photos and stories, then use the names and locations from those stories to do internet searches for other news sites carrying more details or better photos of the same event. If I am interested enough in a story, I will email, and/or call photographers and reporters from other countries and ask them to give or sell me photos that didn't make the print page. I have had varying measures of success with this, especially for a dumb white man whose only serviceable foreign language is Classical Latin. ![]() All said, I spend up to five or six hours per day searching for content for this site during a slow news week. Active news weeks are easier, as I can find a lot more very quickly. I can't (or wont) speak directly to other posters' methods, though I know Etsu very well on a personal level and will attest that 95% of her sources are completely different from mine. Fully half of the stuff she is able to provide is shit that I can't find on my own and vice versa. Truth be told, it is some seriously ball-busting effort to keep up with shit. Many of the sources go dark very quickly and often times then best (re:uncensored) photos from an event are available only for a short time before being replaced by ruined copies. Most of us spend hours per day finding stuff for this site, all just because we like the site and want to share uncensored news with others. There's no pay in it, only a lot of time, frustration, and malware risk. ![]() It's much of why I get so fucking anal about people bagging on contributors here. Until you've done it, day in and day out for years (as many of us have) it can be difficult to appreciate just how much time and effort go into the process. All that said, as I mentioned, not a damned one of us has a background in emergency or LE services or professional journalism. Most of what we do, anyone with half a brain, a lot of persistence, and some free time can also do. If even 10% of the users on this site went out and found one fresh set of photos per week, we'd be drowning in so much content that the first page of the Death section would cycle four times a day. Alas... ![]() |

What a guy. Dancing his heart out and I don't mean that as a pun. He must've felt poorly but kept on dancing literally until he dropped. I was enjoying his performance. May he R.I.P. ![]() |

Re: Man Dies Getting a Cardiac Arrest on Stage Doing a Traditional Dance
Anyone know how long it takes before death and if it's super painful? Of all the vids I've seen, it seems like it's almost instantaneous, but I always imagined it was super painful and lasted longer before the end.
