Re: Man Commits Suicide Via Train After Chatting With Friends
Obviously, I’m wrong. It’s rare, but it happens. The video simply had a manufactured appearance to me. I’ve seen many real videos and many fakes and this one has a few trademarks of faked footage. Doesn’t mean it is necessarily fake, just means in my opinion it looks suspect. 1. This is the only train suicide I’ve ever seen that was recorded on a personal device focused on the subject for no apparent reason prior to the suicide. 2. The architecture in the foreground looks to be deliberately in the center of the image in order to obscure the impact, which makes editing easier. 3. There are a lot of artifacts all over the video, which typically are only found on film but are also a side effect of adjusting the speed of digital video when recorded at a low frame rate. None of those in-and-of-themselves mean a video is or isn’t fake. Clearly, folks have commented that they found the news story corroborating it. And let me be clear, nothing about the event itself is fishy. It looks like most other train suicides. The difference is in the presentation |
