Monogamy is not abnormal in nature; there are plenty of other animals who mate with only one partner—for life.

Primates are a different story altogether—I grant you that—as there is a distinction between social monogamy and sexual monogamy—which indeed, happens to be the rarest of the two. But 'rare' (or unique) does not mean 'abnormal'—these terms are not interchangeable and don't necessarily mean the same thing.

It just so happens that in modern times, it can sometimes be difficult for members of our particular primate species to find another quality primate to be monogamous with.
