I can never understand why shooters always try to Flee after comitting the crime, theres no way ull get away from it, it would have been better if they become full brave and start going for more and hunt for more ppl, heck u can do that with a car and ran ppl over, but no suspects ever do it
At heart, in my humble opinion, they're too afraid to face the music, so to speak. It could also be that committing such evil is soul killing enough that they can't continue. Surely, there are some exceptions that have done as you say, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Those killers from the '86 Miami FBI shootout debacle come to mind but there was a gap between the time they murdered that armed vehicle driver and had said shootout.
