A man was killed after attacking his ex-partner with a hatchet in Ponte Nova on Wednesday afternoon (8).

CCTV footage shows the moment when the assailant, identified as Reginaldo S.P., 40, got off a motorcycle and tried to kill the 39-year-old woman. While she was on the ground, the suspect was restrained by a bicycle mechanic, who used a metal bar to strike him

According to the Military Police, the victim of the attempted femicide suffered deep cuts to the head and was subsequently rescued by witnesses. Her ex-partner was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. According to the police, Reginaldo, who had had a protective order filed against him by his ex, had left prison the day before.

The 31-year-old mechanic waited for the police to arrive and was taken to a police station to give a statement, initially for serious bodily injury resulting in death. He was released after being questioned.

Sounds like self-defense to me.Hopefully, the Brazil police department doesn't charge the mechanic.I think the surveillance camera video proves.Otherwise, the suspect was attended to kill, and the mechanic was only defending for a civilian cause.Usually , the police usually show up after the fact too clean up the bodies.

A 40-year-old man, identified as Reginaldo Superbi Pinheiro, died on Wednesday afternoon (8) in the Santo Antônio neighborhood of Ponte Nova, in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, after attempting to kill his ex-partner with an axe.

The cause of death was traumatic brain injury, resulting from blows with an iron bar inflicted by a mechanic who intervened to save the woman. The crime was captured on security cameras.

The images show Reginaldo getting off his motorcycle and attacking the 39-year-old woman, who had a protection order against him. He had been released from prison on Tuesday (7), the day before the attack. A bicycle mechanic at a nearby repair shop heard cries for help, came out with an iron bar, and struck the attacker in the head. As a result of the injuries, Reginaldo lost consciousness. An ambulance was called, but he died at the scene. His ex-partner suffered deep cuts to the head and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Woohoo! I don't know that I've ever been so excited watching a video here.

Kudos to all the bystanders who stepped in for a change! Especially that mechanic who saw what was happening, ran back to get the bar, and then came to the rescue.
