they're not really supposed to be; the edge is ground at a very steep angle so it doesn't chip when cleaving things on a cutting board

I agree, which makes this guys response all the more strange. If those doing the beheading are trying to intimidate others, which I'm sure they are, then I would think they would want the victim screaming and thrashing around as much as possible to inflict terror. It's just strange either way.

maybe their boss ordered: "you guys cut this guy's head off and make a video. " they're not going to say no, even if they want to. so, maybe out of mercy they gave him some heroin first, before doing the deed  |

Why would the killers use a meat clever? It must be for dramatic purposes & to instill additional fear/shock into the intended viewing audience. The killers got their point across, bluntly, to say the least.
