I know that the firefighters were screaming at the paramedics to work him, even though the injuries were catastrophic...incompatible with life...
His closest comrades went with him in the ambulance, and it saved their lives as the South Tower collapsed a few minutes later.

On the way there, the EMTS told the other firefighters to stop staring at him, they did not want them to remember him that way.

You have me beat, never have, never will. I can take a boat or ship to wherever I go, if it sinks, I can swim. However, all the arm flapping in the world won't help if the plane falls from the air. You're braver than I am.
Parachutes for air planes. When the plane falls to a safe altitude, jump.

Surely what I just stated above is easier said than done.

I'm a dumbass and can't figure it out, but if you watch 9/11, the firemen's story on YouTube, it goes into detail about it.
