the only time ive ever been really scared where a nugget of shit came out was about 11 years back. Me and two mates were on a golf course in a semi rural area of Australia. Not alot of trees. It was overcast and planned for rain that evening. Around 3pm the golf courses lightning detection and alert alarm rang out. We put a 9iron in the ball hole and lay in defilade of a nearby sand bunker for 20 minutes. no rain, nothing. just as we thought fuck it, lets get in the cart and head back to the clubhouse i felt my hair on my neck and head stand up and a half second later the 9iron was vapourised. Rick pissed himself and was deaf for a good 10 minutes, i had tinnitus and found a little nugget of shit in my undies. John was fine suprisingly. The hole was about 6 meters away from us.

That's one of the best stories I have read on DR. Why did you put the 9 iron in the hole and take up "hull down" positions? Is that standard Special Forces / Navy Seals / Ski Patrol / Gun Range Safety Ninja training for lightning on a golf course?

You could have been killed, the current goes out some distance from where the lightning hits. Did you have any black-out or shock? Were you looking in the direction of the flash and did you have trouble seeing afterwards? What about the blast, are we talking 12 gauge shotgun, 105 mm howitzer or?

body, not his head. It might be smoke / fire?

I didn't realize that lightning was such a creepy crawler. Man, the way it just creeped from one victim to the next. Always thought lightning was more of an instantaneous strike and retreat kind of death magic. If I ever see someone get zapped beside I'm gonna try to jump sideways and run the fuck out of there before The Creeper gets me
